She twists Megan's neck around, killing her and sending Malcolm running away. Theoretically staged as a found-footage exercise, though frequently opting for standard shots with no appreciable increase in quality, the film traces Malcolm’s growing realization that his new house is, indeed, haunted. Among other weird scenarios that plague the family is Becky opening her box and having a whole swarm of moths fly out. Malcolm fixes this by installing bug zappers to attract the moths to their doom. He also notices the demon, which Professor Wilde says is named Aghoul, taunting him in the videos. Although he tries to explain the weirdness to Megan and the kids, they don't believe him.

He meets the neighbor, Miguel, who jumps at every chance he gets to call Malcolm racist whenever he comments on something related to a Mexican stereotype, though all of it is in jest. Malcolm records himself having sex with Megan and notices the Abigail doll turning its head. He also finds old videotapes with a demonic being in it trying to kill a family of three, but it fails every time. A year later, Malcolm moves in with his girlfriend Megan, an insecure woman with two kids, her bratty and promiscuous teenage daughter Becky and effeminate son Wyatt, who has a stereotypically black imaginary friend named Tony. After the movers hang a safe next to the lawn, an invisible force unties the rope tied to a support beam, causing the safe to fall on the dog and crush him. House of the Dragon is supposed to be a multi-season story and news broke as the final stages of filming on the second season that producers were already mapping out House of the Dragon Season 3.

Although there are obvious elements imported from recent horror pics like “Insidious,” “The Possession” and “The Conjuring,” it’s hard to really call “A Haunted House 2” a parody. Parodies generally tend to riff on and comment upon the films and genres they’re sending up, while this effort simply uses them as a loose framework on which to hang a rapid-fire barrage of manic, heavily improvised setpieces. It’s not that the Marlon Wayans horror spoof “A Haunted House 2” isn’t stupid. It is, incredibly so, as well as technically inept, damn near plotless, and mired in humor so puerile, ugly and regressive that this critic witnessed a gaggle of preteen theater-hoppers groan with exasperation at several of the running sex jokes. And yet, there’s a certain tragically admirable level of commitment from the cast, particularly the dignity-averse Wayans, that at least lifts it above the parody-movie nadir set by “Date Movie”/“Epic Movie” auteurs Jason Friedberg and Aaron Seltzer. It’s certainly likely to be among the worst movies in wide release this year, but it’s far from the most hateable, and that should count for something.
